About Us

2025 will mark our seventh-year hosting Vets with Nets. The event was started in 2019 to show appreciation to those who have served our country. While we have no official numbers from the first year it was roughly 40 boats and 70 veterans. in 2020 the event moved to the Detroit Beach Boat Club. Having the boat club has allowed us to expand the event into what it is today. 2024 will host over 400 veterans on over 150 boats. This event would not be possible without the boat captains that donate their time and equipment, our hard-working board, our volunteers and our amazing sponsors.

To show appreciation to our active military service members and veterans, by providing world class walleye fishing adventures on the western basin of Lake Erie. The intention is to leave every veteran, or active service member who participates in our event with a memorable experience. That gives them a renewed sense of pride in their service, provides hope for their future and a general positive outlook for the community in which they live and serve.
